Case Study: Precision Tech® Refacing Saves Rig Operator $2,680

A rig operator in central Oklahoma had 300 joints of XT-39 drill pipe and Hevi-Wate. After inspection, it was determined that 71 joints of pipe, with 92 damaged ends, needed to be scheduled for re-cut and refacing. Of the damaged connections, 61 connections would require refacing and 31 of the connections were so close to the benchmark, they would require the more costly re-cut.

The traditional method of repair requires time-consuming and expensive shipping of the damaged pipe to the machine shop.
